Jeez. Just came back from Japan. Still lagged as f**k and I’m beginning to think that’s because I barely had a sober night throughout the whole thing. I’m all about Izakayas and Sake now.
Anyways, this was a mad ting. It’s been 6 years since my last Nippon trip and it was not only great to catch up with long time homies, but also meet a whole bunch of new cats! Also on a sidenote, not being vegetarian anymore took this trip a few levels higher too.
Not really too happy with the photos I took on this trip but here’s wut I got..
I’d have to fill 10 pages to do this trip justice, so Ima focus on a few highlights:
First of all big up my new RAIDSYSTEM fam! XLII, who been extra kind and offered shelter for my azz for a few days, took me to one of their shows to briefly play some tunage. I didn’t think nothing of it honestly… but these guys are HEAVY. Raidsystem, I’m telling you. XLII, BROKEN HAZE, KEN-ONE. Each of them guys are on top of their shit. Proud to be a part of the pack!
Full report after the jump!
Originally I was gonna go to Japan back in march but one day before the tickets were booked the tragic incidents took place. Then by pure coincidence, I was scheduled for 2 separate events for September (DMC Japan) and October (NI workshops) so I figured I might as well just stay there instead of going twice.
To get one thing straight, don’t let all that media BS get to your head if you wanna see Japan. Obviously these folks had a big tragedy happen to them, but it was mad impressive to see how they coped with it. Swear to god, people in Europe would be wining for years. Radiation is not a problem at all. Basically there was a few aftershocks but it even took me a while to even realize why my bed was shaking a little every now and then. So much for that.
I hung out in Tokyo for about a week before taking a week in Kyoto with my nukka Kid Fresh. Totally different ballgame. Temples n shit! We ended up renting some tiny ass bikes and cycled from on spot to another. Kyoto got mad sights to offer and it’s by far the cleanest place I have ever seen.
I went to Osaka for only one night… Big up Dj Shin and his crew, Ne-Nyo and Taiji!! Next time I go back there I need to stay a bit longer.
Finally went back to Tokyo for another week to meet up with Andreas A. from Native Instruments. We met Kentaro and Baku for a little Traktor/Maschine talk and did a dope event at Harajuku’s UC-lounge with Raidsystem and Olive Oil – another name to watch out for! Did a sweet lil back to back set at Module with Kid Fresh at Girl Unit’s show and did DOMMUNE with Girl Unit, Pol-Style, XLII and Broken Haze (we murdered that shit with 14k views!)
Thanks to everybody involved for an incredible experience. Big up Gemba, XLII &Tomoko, Sarasa, Andreas from Native, Broken Haze, Ken One, Ne-Nyo, Francois, Osaki, Izoh, Kireek, Shin, Dj RS, Olive Oil, POL-Style and all the other cats I had the pleasure to meet!
